Support a free MOOC on Web Science by 1 Minute of your time

We are in a competition to produce a MOOC, a massive open online course, on Web
Science with free content in English. We have submitted an application video and
we now compete against more than 240 competitors for one of ten MOOC Fellowships,
which would provide financial support towards our objective. In order to make the
first cut in the competition, we need 1 minute from you:
Please login to https://moocfellowship.org/submissions/web-science - you can do
so by using your facebook account or by creating a new account on that platform -
and hit the green VOTE / ABSTIMMEN button. On that page you can also see our
application video and our course concept before or after you vote. If possible:
share this information with your students, colleagues, friends - the more who vote
for us the more likely that MOOC on Web Science will happen.

The institute „WeST – Web Science and Technologies“ works on issues related to the usage and the technologies of the World Wide Web. Researchers consider the technical aspects of the Web being a globally networked information system and information services as well as the personal and social aspects of Web usage. They aim at understanding the structure and evolution of the Web, for making the Web even more useful and for ensuring its future prosperity and usefulness. Germane to these aspects are the novel technologies of the Semantic Web, Web Retrieval, Multimedia Web, Interactive Web and the Software Web.

Institute WeST - Center for Web Science Education

The Department 4: Computer Science is offering a novel Master in Web Science as of this winter term 2012/2013. Courses for the Master are given in English and are being held since October 2012. The curriculum emphasizes computer science with strong interdisciplinary contributions from economics and the social sciences. At the Master's in Web Science information web page you may register your interests for receiving further information via email for starting in the upcoming summer terms (classes starting in April) or fall terms (classes starting in October).

Institute WeST - Centre for Web Science Research

In its numerous and most often international research projects the Institute WeST investigates empirical data and develops methods to build a sound foundation for Web Science and for applications of Web technologies. To this end, WeST also participates in two international networks of excellence, WSTNet and Net2. Many ideas are generated at scientific conferences, many relevant of which are actually co-organized by WeST including Informatik 2013, the World Wide Web Conference 2012, the Int. Semantic Web Conference 2011, and ACM WebSci '11, as well as seminars such as the European Summer School on Information Retrieval 2011 or the Summer Academy on Web Science.
