Cooperation with KIMEP University in Kazakhstan

Dr. Iryna Shalaginova, Head of the International Relations office of the University of Koblenz-Landau and Maurice Zimmermann, responsible for ERASMUS + programs, visited the KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The KIMEP University is a private, state-accredited university offering all courses in English. It enables good exchange opportunities for students and lecturers in the subjects of English studies, social sciences, information management and economics. Since the beginning of the year, this university has been a partner of the University of Koblenz-Landau in the framework of the EU mobility program "Erasmus+".

Strong cooperation: University intensifies collaboration with African Universities

The University Koblenz-Landau came to a cooperation agreement in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with another African university, the Sub-Sahara University of the United States International University (USIU) of Africa in Nairobi. Therewith, the university intensifies its international exchange with African universities. This signing was especially appreciated by the research team under the direction of the dean of the department 1: Educational Sciences at the University Koblenz Landau, Prof. Dr. Claudia Quaiser-Pohl.

Institute WeST extends study programme cooperation with Chinese Universities

In April the Institute for Web Science & Technologies was a guest in Fujian province in China. Dr. Ulrich Wechselberger, managing director of Institute WeST, visited Fuzhou University and the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in Fuzhou. Subject of the visit were the joint 1+2 study programmes in Web Science and Computer Science. In these programmes, students study one year in China and two in Germany and earn both a Chinese and a German Master’s degree.

International appreciation of the eye-controlled web browser by the Institute for Web Science & Technologies

In April 2017 the Institute for Web Science and Technologies (WeST) received two international awards recognising their supporting technology for physically impaired people. The webbrowser GazeTheWeb, which is being developed at WeST, won first prize at the Web Accessibility Challenge. The prize is awarded by the Web For All conference 2017 in Perth/Australia to acknowledge the most innovative and usable technologies to make Web accessible to all people.
