Abstract Writing in English (1/2)

Do you need to write an abstract to apply for your next conference or for a paper you plan to submit? If so, Campus Landauthere are two very good reasons for attending this workshop. You will learn to write an effective abstract that “sells” your research, and you will leave the workshop with a “finished product” ready to submit:  an abstract that has been proofread by your English trainer.

This two-morning workshop is devoted to developing your abstract-writing skills and giving you some easy-to-follow tips and tools for writing an abstract in English. The workshop includes many practical exercises:

  • analysing sample texts that illustrate formulations and ways of structuring an abstract
  • editing texts in order to understand how you can make an abstract clearer and more succinct. Can you remove any words? Can you rephrase some of the sentences?Logo DAAD
  • writing and receiving feedback
  • a brief focus on the verb tenses used in an abstract

After the workshop, your trainer will proofread your text for you and give you feedback on it per email. This workshop is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) sourced by the Foreign Office (AA).
