Journal Publications (2/2)

Ein Workshop für Promovierende und Postdocs des Fachbereichs 7

The daily business of scientists is to produce new data with the aimCampus Landau to support the development of a particular research field. Generating the data is one thing, presenting it on paper in a convincing and understandable manner – even for non-experts, is a different pair of shoes. Scientific writing and the publication process itself can be time consuming or even frustrating. By providing some insights in publication models as well as the currently employed peer-review procedures, awareness for the challenges faced by editors will be raised.

The central part of the course, however, will address general aspects related to writing publications for an international audience. Thereby, we will deal with the structure of scientific articles, writing style (including the efficient use of the English language) as well as the design of figures and tables. Ideally, we will discuss and ultimately develop your own documents. We will also cover the submission procedure and how to handle comments and concerns shared by reviewers during peer-review. The course is designed to help the participants to take the first steps towards publications or improve their skills.
