AOW Writing Workshop


The Department of Social and Organizational Psychology at Institute of Psychology, University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz is pleased to host the Writing Workshop 2016 of the Section Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology of the German Psychological Society.

The writing workshop is aimed at doctoral candidates and post-docs at different stages of their research projects on topics related to Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology. The participants will have ample opportunity to discuss their working papers in a small group with a mentor (senior researcher) and 3-5 fellow doctoral candidates and post-docs and receive feedback on their work. Apart from the development of good scientific writing skills, the workshop also provides a venue for network building among participants as well as senior researchers in the field.

The workshop will be held on the 13th and 14th of October 2016 at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz.


Thursday, October 13, 2016

The workshop starts at 9:00 at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz. After a short welcome session, participants will work in small, interactive groups and receive feedback on their written texts. After lunch, participants will get to know the mentors and discuss specific topics related to academia in a speed-dating format, followed by a session on “Scientific Story-Telling: Ingredients for a Good Paper”. In the afternoon (15:00 to 18:00), participants will be rewriting their introduction. In the evening, a dinner with all participants and mentors will further facilitate interaction in a more informal setting.

The morning will be fully used for working in small, interactive groups on the papers. After lunch, a keynote lecture on academic writing and publishing will be given by Prof. Dr. Sabine Sonnentag. Lastly, there will be a Q&A session and a panel discussion in which the mentors share their experiences and tips and tricks regarding the publication process and academic careers more generally. The workshop will officially end at 16:00.


The participation fee for this workshop is 40 € (student members of the DGPs-AOW) or 60 € (non-member participants) and is due by 15.09.2016. The participation fee is payable after receipt of the acceptance letter and does not cover accommodation or transportation costs.


The maximum number of participants is 40. Please use the registration form provided below. You will be asked to indicate three preferences regarding your mentor during the writing workshop. By 15.09.2016, you will need to submit your paper-in-progress that you would like to work on during the workshop. The paper can be a first draft or a full paper. The workshop will focus on writing a persuasive introduction. The paper will be read by the mentors so they can prepare their feedback and recommendation.
