Scientifc Background

Daniel M. Schmidt studied informatics with focus on business informatics and graduated at Koblenz University. He started his academic career at the Research Group Modelling and Simulation of Prof. Dr. Klaus G. Troitzsch at Koblenz. His primary working field was research on supply chain management in the automotive industry. Since 2006, Daniel M. Schmidt is member of Prof. Dr. Maria A. Wimmer’s Research Group eGovernment at Koblenz University. He does research on the challenges of interoperability in public administration with scope placed on cross-organizational design and implementation of business processes, business process patterns and document engineering for information exchange. Furthermore, he works on application of Service Oriented Architectures and semantic web technologies to ensure cross-organisational and cross-border interoperability in eGovernment. He is engaged in EC-co-funded research and development projects, in German national eGovernment projects, participating in CEN BII, member of IEEE Computer Society and the eGov expert group of GI e.V.
