International Strategy 2030

Preamble

With its Internationalization Strategy the University of Koblenz-Landau proactively accepts the challenges of a dynamic and changing environment in society and politics. It strives to strengthen its position as an institution with a strong and clear profile, where research and teaching become one, and as a leading university for teacher training programs.

The University of Koblenz-Landau is the youngest university in Rhineland-Palatinate. It has its origins in teacher training programs, since it emerged from the Teacher Training College of Rhineland-Palatinate (EWH) in 1990. Through its research activities the university is well recognized in the international research community (e.g. through international publications, joint research on an international level, participation in international symposia and conferences, and joint academic programs with partner universities across the world). As an open-minded, personal, and internationally oriented institution, the University of Koblenz-Landau provides an excellent learning environment. Furthermore, it offers equal opportunities to all members of the university.

Alongside “Research” and “Teaching/Further Education”, as the main pillars of the university, the university’s socio-cultural commitment and its importance to the surrounding regions play an essential role. When it comes to changes in a society, the university is an active and driving force for the region’s internationalization, interculturality, and diversification.

Moreover, the Internationalization Strategy incorporates the socio-political situation in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate by addressing the special needs of refugees and students with an immigration background. Furthermore, the university places importance on the transfer of knowledge and technology, which is addressed in this strategy as well, with the aim to use newly acquired scientific knowledge to generate innovative products, services and impulses.

This Internationalization Strategy addresses the time period until 2030. It bears in mind that society and the university including all its staff and students constantly change. Therefore, internationality and intercultural awareness play an increasingly important role in university life. In addition to the Internationalization Strategy, the University of Koblenz-Landau has developed an action and implementation plan. Herewith the university is striving to define many particular tasks in order to achieve the aims of the strategy. The implementation of these tasks will be a major challenge for the whole university.
