Dr. York Sure starts in May 2009 as Full Professor at the Institute for Computer Science of the Universität Koblenz and as Director for the R&D department of the Leibniz-Institute for Social Sciences (GESIS) in Bonn. In April 2009 he was elected as president for the alumni association Angewandte Informatik Karlsruhe e.V. (AIK).

>From 2007 to 2009 York was working at SAP Research as Senior Researcher and technical coordinator of the German lighthouse project THESEUS-TEXO with a team of more than 20 people. His previous positions include assistant professor at Universität Karlsruhe (TH), visiting professor at Stanford University and visiting professor at Universität Mannheim. After graduating in December 1999 in Industrial Engineering he received in May 2003 his PhD in Computer Science, both from Universität Karlsruhe (TH). In 2006 he was awarded with the IBM UIMA Innovation Award.

Besides being Semantic Web Track Chair of the 19th International World Wide Web Conference (WWW2010) and Programme Chair of the 3rd European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC2006) York co-organized over 20 scientific events including a prestigious Dagstuhl Seminar. He is co-inventor and co-organizer of the German national conference series on knowledge management "Wissensmanagement - Erfahrungen und Visionen" and he is the inventor and co-organizer of the series of international EON workshops on Evaluation of Ontologies and Ontology based Tools.
