The objective of nationally funded project CollabCloud is to develop a semantic information mediator which allows for scalable management of distributed heterogeneous data, knowledge discovery, and data anaylsis, all based on state-of-the-art technologies from data mining, semantic computing and cloud computing.
Cloud computing characterises the trend to move applications and services from individual computers to a networked infrastructure, i.e. the "cloud". Services are accessible via the internet and they provide a scalable and robust infrastructure in which the amount of required resources can be adjusted dynamically. On top, the CollaborationCloud allows for easy analysis of data slices and sharing of intermediate and final results among the users. Additionally, the history of all analysis steps is stored for later result assessment and reuse. The data can also be passed between different analysis tools.
