Short Description

Goal of the EventMedia Integrative Research Project (IRP) is the development of an event-centric approach for users to interactively explore, annotate, and share events through different kinds of media and media annotation. The web-based EventMedia application will allow its users to search and discover events and event relations that are meaningful, surprising, or entertaining to them.

The EventMedia IRP makes use of a large and flexible knowledge base consisting of different event repositories described by an event ontology and connected to the linked open data cloud.

An enrichment of the events with social peer-to-peer metadata allows to determine the relevancy of an event based on the different users' tasks.

The EventMedia IRP is part of the PetaMedia Network of Excellence (http://www.petamedia.eu/) that aims at the combination and integration of user-contributed media and tags, social peer-to-peer technology, and multimedia content analysis.
