Beschreibung

Currently, we see evidence of many different applications and projects that are focused on events or centered around the notion of events. In literature, we find various models and approaches to define events and event relations. However, the appropriate visualization and interaction of the users with events remains an open challenge. On the other hand, we find in the Web 2.0 of today many different applications and platforms where users create and share media that document events the users participate in such as Flickr, YouTube, last.fm, eventful.com, upcoming.org, and Twitter.

Goal of this thesis is to develop different concepts for interacting with events. These different user interface concepts shall reflect the nature of events, including the participation of people, event composition, event causality, event correlation, event documentation with media, and event interpretation. The different interaction concepts shall be compared by applying scientific evaluation methods. Result of such a summative evaluation are gaining insights in understanding how events should be visualized and how users want to interact with events.
