COSMOS

Description

The project CoSMoS deals with the monitoring of distributed applications with a focus on Client/Server applications. The set-up of the Cosmos system is based on the findings that bad code performance is not necessarily the result of an inefficient code. It can simply be the result of overloaded computers or communication links. Therefore, Cosmos uses an integrated approach by finding and evaluating data on the application operating system and hardware level in a synchronized manner. The new prototypical tools are able to unveil the complex interactions of performacne factors on different system levels. A special question remains whether the target can be reached without a simple software monitor, that is without additionally using specific measuring hardware.
