Advanced Park Assistance System

Vehicle manufacturer and the automotive supply industry offer a wide range of park assistance systems. Generally, these systems support the driver in reversing in a parking space which is located parallel to the street. Extending this functionality, we designed an advanced park assistance system, which supports the driver in reversing into a parking space located orthogonally to the street, too. Based on a new innovative human machine interaction, the advanced park assistance system does not need any environment sensors. It is not necessary to measure length and depth of a parking space. The driver is responsible for the longitudinal vehicle control and the advanced park assistance system for the complicated lateral control.
