Project description

Backing up into a parking space is a challenging task especially for novice drivers. In cooperation with a car supplier, we developed a semi-automatic park assistance system which supports the driver in parking into a parking space located parallel to the road. The driver is responsible for the longitudinal vehicle control. Compared to this, the complicated lateral control is done by the park assistance system. Therefore, we developed a very robust algorithm to calculate the trajectory. The trajectory is designed in a way, that the vehicle fits into the smallest possible parking space, which can be driven in just one move.
