Autonomous mobile robotics
To build autonomous mobile systems is a complex task: Besides the mechanical and electronic aspects a complex software architecture has to be designed and implemented. Sensors and other hardware have to be integrated, and using efficient programming the sensor data hast to be analyzed in real time, so that the robot can response to its environment. Robotics is an active research area, and also provides a perfect field for hands-on experience in computer science.
