MAppLab

(Mobile Applications Laboratory)

The mobile Applications Laboratory (MAppLab) is part of the workgroup "Corporate Communication Systems", dealing with cooperate information systems.
We conceptualize and develope special mobile value added services, which can be used over different mobile networks (WLAN, GSM, UMTS). For this, we apply marketable end user devices (e.g. cellular phones, PDAs) and implement specially designed software solutions. In common practice, these are services connected to the internet, so that users may decide over which channel they want to access the system.

Our current research areas include:

  • mobile control for housing facilities
  • location-based services
  • mobile health within mobile systems for computer supported medicine
  • RFID solutions for logistics (wireless identification of containers)
  • mobile support for event logging (e.g. support for insurance companies)
  • spontaneous Wireless-LAN Guest access for cooperate environment infrastructures
