The main emphasis of our research focuses on intra- and inter-corporate communication solutions, central requirements of nearly every type of business activity, today and in the future.

Besides considering the concepts, technologies, and application potentials of corporate communication infrastructures, our research specifically concentrates on mobile value-added service concepts and their technical and economic realisation. A particular research and teaching perspective addresses the design analysis and conceptional prototyping of complex application systems and their business models.

Special challenges arise from the implementation of applications that support full business processes, taking specifically into account platform-dependent characteristics, which are, for example, typical for a mobile device or due to limited bandwidth. In this context, many organisational, economic and socio-economic questions are of central relevance in order to meet acceptance criteria of all market players involved. In addition to these research subjects, there is an indispensable, as well as stimulating, thematic overlap with the other research groups within the institute (IT-Risk Management, E-Government or Collaborative Business). This allows a research- and practice-oriented treatment of very exciting and demanding projects, which often includes partners of our broad international network.
