The research group Business Software is currently involved in the following projects:

The UCC is a competence center for research and teaching in the area of collaborative technologies. It focuses on Computer Supported Cooperative Work, Collaborative CRM, Web 2.0, Enterprise 2.0 and Social Media.

  • ERP Future Lab

The ERP Future Lab provides a research and test environment for current and future applications of ERP systems. It provides an environment for enterprises where they can evaluate the suitability of ERP functionalities for their business requirements. In addition, support for evaluations is offered and integration scenarios (technical and semantic integration of different ERP systems) can be tested. The ERP Future Lab also provides the infrastructure for student projects based on ERP-Systems and Business Collaborations.

  • Process Lab

The Process Lab supports the research area of Business Collaboration with essential infrastructure for Business Process Management in enterprises. It offers students and business partners the opportunity to use various tools for business process modeling and learn about business process management.

The name “eXperience” represents a method which enables to convey authentic knowledge about E-Business and IT-Management in the form of case studies. It is practiced since many years and real IT-Projects are presented at the “Koblenzer Forum für Business Software” by the responsible project manager on an annual event.

  • CRM Research Cooperation

In cooperation with the DOCHOUSE GmbH, the developer of the DOCHOUSE CRM-solution for IBM Lotus Notes, the requirements for CRM-Systems of the next generation are specified. Furthermore the Software is used as an example for CRM-Systems in lectures.

  • Enterprise 2.0 Workshop

“Enterprise 2.0” and “collaborative technologies”. The research group Business Software discusses the topic in order to provide an understanding of all the different terms. In addition to a detailed introduction into the topic and the presentation of business-scenarios, the participants of the workshop will develop concrete approaches for enterprises in thematically distinguished practical sessions.

  • Passport 2 Trade 2.0

The research group Business Software supports the EU Project “Passport to Trade 2.0”, which was established by the University in Salford, UK. The main focus of this project is the development of an internet-platform on which small and medium sized enterprises as well as students can inform themselves about all European countries.

 

Long-term Projects

University Competence Center (UCC)

The purpose of this project is the establishment and the operation of a competence center for educational institutions. Its aim is the identification of a broad spectrum of established, as well as alternative technologies in the field of collaborative work. Further goals are the target-group-specific review of the existing knowledge of collaborative technologies. 

The learning-platform is complemented by international research projects in the fields of collaborative technologies. The findings of the different projects continuously are integrated into the teaching material of the business software research group.

Koblenzer Forum für Business Software

The „Koblenzer Forum für Business Software“ is a meeting point for IS professionals and key decision makers who need to keep themselves up-to-date of the potential of, and developments in business software.The KoFoBIS event is held annually and sessions include the presentation of real-world ERP projects by the project leaders and discussion of the issues and challenges organizations face when undertaking such business development projects.

ERP Future Lab
