Frankfurt Airport (ca. 115km to Koblenz)

Terminal 1 is connected to the regional and long-distance (Fernbahnhof) Railway Station. A train departs every hour from the long-distance Railway Station to Koblenz. Though, there are only few direct connections, you may have to change trains in Mainz. If you prefer to ride a car, you'll find all major car rentals at the airport. Travel time to Koblenz will be approximately 70min - by car as well as with the train. Please find detailed instructions for both alternatives below.

Köln-Bonn Airport (ca. 100km to Koblenz)

In addition to few major airlines, especially low-budget airlines like Air Berlin, EasyJet, Germanwings or HLX operate this airport. The regional and long-distance railway station is right next to the airport. Travel time to Koblenz is approx. 80min. Major car rentals have their agencies in the airport.

Hahn Airport (ca. 65km to Koblenz)

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (1 hour by car to Frankfurt or Koblenz) is mainly operated by low-budget carrier Ryanair. Car rental and a bus shuttle to Koblenz (Bus 610) are available at the airport. Five busses connect Koblenz each day bidirectionally - travel time is one hour.

By Train You can travel to Koblenz by heading for Koblenz Main Station (Koblenz HBF) or via ICE Railway Station Montabaur. You can immediately start planning your rail journey to Koblenz by using the online service of Deutsche Bahn. Travelling with the ICE (high-speed train) via Montabaur to Koblenz, you can also plan your journey on the website of Deutsche Bahn. Koblenz is connected to Montabaur with Bus 460 (40min additional travel time) or with a taxi (20min to Koblenz). In Koblenz, public transportation and taxis are available - even if a lot destinations are within walking distance.

By Bus

There are two big bus stations in Koblenz - the Shopping Mall "Löhr-Center" and the bus station (ZOB) right next to the Main Station. University bus stops are "Oberweiher", "UNI" or "Winninger Straße". The campus is next to these stations. Busses 5/15 and 20 depart from stop D; busses 3 and 355 depart from stop H at the ZOB.

Time Tables for Busses 3, 5/15 und 20 to University are provided by the Koblenz Transportation Company (KEVAG).

Besides the KEVAG busses, there is BUS 355 operated by RMV approaching "Winninger Straße".

By Car

On Google Maps, the University Campus is marked blue. A right click in this area allows the route planning.

From northern directions: Take the route B 9 towards Koblenz city. Leave the B 9 for the B 258 (direction Metternich). Go ahead for about 3 kilometres, and get on the B 416, direction Güls. Koblenz Campus is signposted from there on.

From southern directions: Take the route B 258 towards Koblenz city. Change to the B 416, direction Güls. Koblenz Campus is signposted from there on.

Difficulties in planning your trip to Koblenz

• Travellers from Swiss: Make sure, you head for "Koblenz am Rhein" in Germany when using the booking system of the railway company. Otherwise, you might arrive in Koblenz at Lake Constance, 500km away from "Koblenz am Rhein".
• Please mind, that Landau is not a Koblenz district, but a town in the southern part of Rhineland-Palatinate - 230km away from Koblenz.
• Hotel reception or taxi drivers might tell a different story: The University is in the district "Metternich" in the western part of the town at river Mosel! Before 2002, the campus was located in district "Oberwerth" at river Rhine. The buildings are now occupied by the School of Applied Science (Fachhochschule).
• Old city maps (<2003) know the University Street (Universitätsstraße) as "Rammsweg". After the University moved to district of Metternich, also the "Rammsweg" changed location.

Accommodation

You can book your hotel using a service of the city. If you prefer to have your hotel close to the campus, try to book hotels in districts Metternich, Güls, Moselweiß, Rauental as well as Koblenz-Innenstadt (City) (in descending order, closest districts first).
