Research

Research of the working group focuses on environmental valuation, especially on the improvement of the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) under theoretical and practical aspects. CVM analyses have been conducted in Germany as well as in various countries of SO-Asia (China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) e. g. within the framework of the Collaborative Research Center No. 565 of the German Science Foundation (DFG) on »Development and Valuation of Disturbed Landscapes« (2001-2003) and several phases of the International Collaborative Research Center No. 564 of the German Science Foundation (DFG) on »Sustainable Landuse and Rural Development in Mountainous Regions of Southeast Asia« (2003-2006, 2006-2009, 2009-2012).

• »Welfare economic valuation of sustainable rubber production in Southeast Asia: an exemplary study in SW-China«, research project SP7 within the Sino-German research cooperation »Sustainable Rubber Cultivation in the Mekong Region - Development of an integrative land-use concept in Yunnan Province, China (SURUMER)« financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), 2011-2016.

• »Economic Risk Analysis and Valuation«, research project 6.1 within the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research project »Sustainable Coastal Land Management: Trade-Offs in Ecosystem Services (COMTESS)« financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), 2011-2014.
