GC MSD (Thermo)
Model:
GC Trace Ultra + DSQII-MSD (Thermo Fisher Scientific)
Description:
Gas chromatography coupled to a mass selective detector is commonly used for the analysis of non-polar organic chemicals. In principle all non-polar compounds dissolved in an organic solvent with sufficient volatility can be analyzed with detection limits down to the femtogram range with a high linear range. The use of a mass spectrometer as detector (quadrupole) enables the identification of unknowns by interpretation of mass spectra and by comparison via library search. Depending on the analytical question negative or positive Ions, which can be generated by EI or CI, can also be detected in one single run. The mass selective detector is well suited for samples with higher matrix by selection of characteristic ions for quantification.
