Dr. Alisa Melnikova

Project Manager of Hazardous Substance Management at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. After her Bachelor's degree in Biophysics, she completed a Master of Science in Environmental Chemistry in 2012 and a Master of Science in Environmental Economics. From 2013 to 2018, she completed her PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Koblenz-Landau. She then worked as a project manager for material development at Profine GmbH.

A Digital Event for Prospective PhD Candidates, PhD Candidates and Postdocs

The series of events “Research and PhD in Germany“ focuses on the needs of international PhD candidates and postdocs at the University of Koblenz-Landau. Various topics and conditions of researching and living in Germany are introduced and discussed during the events.

In this presentation you will learn more about the insurance and taxation system in Germany. It is important to know your rights and your responsibilities when moving to a new country. Thinking about insurance and taxes in Germany, you will definitely need some support to understand how it works. During this online event we will collect and systematize many important facts, statistics and regulations, which are related to the German everyday life.

This workshop provides a bunch of information you need, including the following:

• obligatory and optional forms of insurance

• health insurance and work-related insurance

• income tax

• social security contributions

• social security and employee benefits

• getting a job in Germany – labour laws

• hints and requirements for the successful job start
