European Projekt TAS3

The European integrated project "Trusted Architecture for Securely Shared Services (TAS3)" is developing a framework supporting the secure exchange of person-related data over the Internet. Data security, data protection, identity management, trust and control of data flows are central issues to be explored in the project. Employability and eHealth are the fields where the achievements of the project will be tested, in particular in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and in Belgium.

The project adapts concepts developed in education around ePortfolios for use in other fields. Thus it is not surprising that the infrastructure developed in the TAS3 project is of immediate interest also for the fields of education where person-related information is key.

Heading for applications in different domains, the project has to serve a variety of existing technical systems using different data specifications. To achieve this, the project is following a specification-neutral approach which has been developed at IWM Koblenz. An inherent usage of semantic methods from the modelling of business processes to the configuration of services is another special feature of the project. Within TAS3 IWM Koblenz is leading the work package to develop the parts of the infrastructure which are not security-specific.

The project has started January 1st, 2008. It will be completed by December 31st, 2011. The Catholic University Leuven/Belgium is coordinating TAS3. Further information can be found at the project homepage.
