Exchange programmes for foreign language assistants.

Foreign schoolboards offer a particularly attractive opportunity to experience a stay abroad for a longer period of time which will allow students to not only get to know the target culture but also to broaden their horizons when it comes to teaching. This is especially of interest to all future teachers. The tasks of a foreign language assistant are very versatile, including assistance within a classroom where German is taught as a foreign language.

What are the application requirements?

Formal criteria

All applicants

  • must have completed the required amount of semesters at a German university
  • must not be older than 29 years old
  • must have German citizenship and must have graduated a German secondary school or a German university. All foreign applicants are advised to contact the PAD in order to inquire about their chances of acceptance.

Further criteria

Within all programmes, all applicants who study the language of the target country are generally favoured, ongoing teachers in particular. Furthermore, the actual application is of high importance since the CV, the cover letter, the university's assessment and the grades are highly taken into consideration. Please visit PAD's website below to find further information to make sure your application turns out to be a success.
