CeraNet

In the course of the CeraNet project in cooperation with the "Forschungsinstitut für Glas und Keramik (FGK)" we developed an information system for ceramics production plants. The system is helpful for ceramics engineers

  • as a general information system covering topics in ceramics production
  • as a fault analysis system for faults during ceramics production
  • as a learning system for education in the ceramics business

CeraNet is based on a visual description language to model the ceramics production process, called the "phase model of production." The descriptions contain the relevant processes as well as neccessary knowledge about faults and fault sources in the production process. The descriptions can easily be adapted to the specific needs and environments of production plants.

Authorised users can access the system via the Internet using Web technology. The knowledge base contains multimedia elements. It is highly interconnected and is presented from different views.

The system is implemented using JKogge , leading to flexible, adaptible and Internet-ready tools.
