About Francis Marion University:

Francis Marion University (FMU) is located near Florence, the largest city in the “Pee Dee” region of South Carolina, USA. It is named in honour of the American Revolutionary War hero General Francis Marion.

FMU offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs with a strong focus on liberal arts education.

The College of Liberal Arts comprises the departments of English, Modern Languages, Fine Arts, Mass Communication, History, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. The School of Education offers courses targeted at future teachers (elementary, middle and secondary level). Students from Landau University are free to attend any classes (except nursing).

In addition, students are encouraged to engage in various cultural activities such as plays, concerts and arts exhibits. A brand new Performing Arts Center has just opened in the heart of Florence: http://www.fmupac.org/

The average class size at FMU is 20, affording students personalized attention from faculty and staff.

How to apply:

Applications should include

(i) a cover sheet (please download here),

(ii) a CV (Lebenslauf) in English or German with a passport photograph,

(iii) a letter of motivation in English explaining why you are applying for this particular university and which courses you are intending to take during your semester abroad, and

(iv) a printout of your academic transcript (Bescheinigung über bisher erbrachte Studienleistungen in allen Fächern) from KLIPS

 

The application deadline (usually mid-January) will be announced during our international evening in December, where all the exchange programmes are introduced and options for funding are presented.
