M.Sc. Environmental Sciences

Environmental Sciences (Master of Science)

Recommended Deadline for Applications (for winter semester 2016/17): 15th May 2016

It is now possible to complete this degree in English

The Master’s Program in Environmental Sciences is a continuation of the Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Sciences, but is open to all qualified students. It is an interdisciplinary program covering the many interactions between natural and human systems (including environmental economics) and multiple scales, from molecular to landscape. Because of the complexities of environmental problems, it is essential that graduates have the ability think and act interdisciplinarily. The goal is to expose students to the discipline-specific methods used by environmental scientists, in order to graduate students with the flexibility and systems thinking capable of being “interdisciplinary specialists”.

The Program is designed to allow students some flexibility to pursue their own areas of interest. Through the well-balanced combination of theoretical and practical courses at the university and internships at other research organizations or in the private sector, graduates are prepared for entry into a rapidly changing and increasingly important job market.

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of environmental sciences, no single career track can be plotted. Rather, graduates are well prepared for many demanding science-based careers such as research institutions, government agencies, political organizations and jobs in the private sector. Graduates are also qualified to pursue doctoral degrees. All this, and a truly international perspective, makes studying Environmental Sciences at the University of Koblenz-Landau an attractive opportunity for interested students.
