Computer science-related and application- oriented
Information systems research is about the methods and techniques to support the design, the implementation and the commercial use of information and communication systems in businesses and administrations, as well as the resulting changes in organizational structures. Accordingly, there is a wide range of different issues and solution concepts which our individual research groups are focused on.
The professorships are supplemented by a private lecturer, Dr. Andreas Engel (Chief Information Officer of Cologne City Council), who is a honorary professor for our institute in the area of Informatics in Public Administration.
Current:
We are looking for a Research Associate for the IT- and Data Security Research Group (f/m/d) (1,0 EGr. 13 TV-L, until 30.11.2025)
The project deals with security and resilience of AI based methods (e.g. machine learning), and how this can be conveyed to students of different disciplines. The research comprises topics such as vulnesrabitliy analysis, attack scenarios and Adversarial Attacks (e.g. in machine learning). The research should also cover, different application areas and how attacks and manipulation manifest themselves. Alongside there should be research on how this could be prevented respectively mitigated against. Further, ethical and legal aspects in the use of AI in different application areas, specifically with a view on data protection should be investigated.
