Three post-doc positions

The University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz, faculty of computer science (Fachbereich 4: Informatik), offers to the earliest possible date three Research Associate / Post Doc positions. The positions are offered on fixed term contracts till 31.12.2023. Employment on these contracts is regulated according to “Regelungen des Gesetzes über befristete Arbeitsverträge in der Wissenschaft (WissZeitVG)” and offers the possibility of succinct qualifications such as Habilitation and/or preparations for the position of (Junior) Professor. The positions come with teaching obiligations according to the „Landesverordnung über die Lehrverpflichtung an den Hochschulen (HLehrVO)“.

Within the project “AI and COVID: Explainabity and Decision Support through AI in Pandemics”, we seek three PostDoc researchers (m/f/d). The project is part of a wider project initiative of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate to strengthen the digitalisation at universities.

Since the project is interdisciplinary, the positions are located within different institutes and with particular research focus, while at the same time all positions collaborate on the common tasks.

For the Institute of Information Systems Research, Research group E-Government we are looking for

Research Associate and Project Coordinator (m/f/n) (1,0 EGr. 14 TV-L)

The research areas covered by this position are methods and tools for data analytics, social science led research methods, data architectures, and knowledge structuring and knowledge networks to generate an AI knowledge base. Further, there is research into stakeholder participation, co-creation and user interaction using AI based techniques in order to establish how COVID affects the cooperation of different governmental and non-governmental service providers, example here is emergency services and civil protection.

For the Institute of Information Systems Research, Research group  IT and Data Security we are looking for

Research Associate (m/f/n) 1,0 EGr. 13 TV-L)

The research focus of this position is on tools and methods for data analytics, semantic web and artificial intelligence (incl. case-base reasoning and machine learning) to establish a knowledge-based system. This system provides the basis for AI-based decision support in the pandemic situation. These have to be trustworthy and explainable in order to provide a sound basis for the decision makers. Hence the research also has to cover security and resilience aspects of the AI methods and tools.

 

For the Institute for Software Engineering we are looking for

Research Associate (m/f/n) (1,0 EGr. 13 TV-L)

The research focus of this position is on software engineering methods and tools for the development of data analytics and artificial intelligence software. The specific application area is Health Data Intelligence (e.g. for the analysis and management of pandemic situations). Emphasis is on design of the software to address security and data protection requirements.

Common Tasks are:

  • Studying and monitoring related literature and research activities continuously
  • Researching methods and tools for the analysis of structured and unstructured data sets that form the knowledge base
  • Contributing to the overall AI-based system. The task of the system it twofold, on the one hand it is providing advice and rules of conduct to the general public to reduce the COVID-19 infection risk. On the other hand it supports public health services, civil protection and emergency services in identifying measures to handle and reduce pandemic risks.
  • Contributing to the overall architecture and collaborate in the integration of the overall AI-system
  • Contributing to studying the user requirements and acceptance of the overall AI systems
  • Working continuously as team
  • Publishing and presenting the research work

We are looking for :  

  • A degree and PhD in computer science, information systems or equivalent subject areas.
  • Genuine interest in mix-method research on data intensive AI based systems and user centric methods.
  • Team players that are creative and open minded, take responsibility and are career oriented.
  • Genuine interest in teaching and working with students
  • Excellent English and German (written and spoken)
