IEEE CBMS 2017 - Best Student Paper Award

In August 2017, the Institute for Web Science and Technology (WeST) received the Best Student Paper Award for their work on understanding cognitive load when typing with eye gaze.

The work focuses on the need to understand cognitive load along with other metrics that is conventional when conducting eye typing experiments. This work is a part of the EU Project MAMEM that aims to help users with neuromuscular conditions operating various computer applications. 

The prize was awarded for the work on “Analyzing the Impact of Cognitive Load in Evaluating Gaze-based Typing”, authored by Korok Sengupta, Jun Sun, Raphael Menges, Dr. Chandan Kumar and Prof. Dr. Steffen Staab, and was presented at the 30th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS), held in Thessaloniki, Greece.
