Person

I studied Biology at the University of Kaiserslautern with a focus on Molecular Biology and Botany. In 2005 I received my diploma for the thesis on the molecular regulation of the CCM1 gen, a key regulator of the CO2-Concentration-Mechanism of the green algae Chlamydomonas. In 2006 I was involved in marine biodiversity studies conducted in Mozambique, the Philippines and Brazil. Since March 2007 I work on my PhD at the Institute of Environmental Science in Landau.

Research Interests

My research is concerned with the biodiversity of the agricultural landscape, with a focus on direct and indirect effects of pesticides and agricultural management practice on bats. I work in the field of Applied Ecology linked with Ecotoxicology.
In addition, I’m specialized in the taxonomy and biogeography of turriform gastropods, a highly diverse group of marine mollusks. Currently, I conducted field work in Sulawesi (Indonesia) and joined the Atimo Vatae expedition (more Info) to South Madagascar.

Current Research Projects

  • Bats in the agricultural landscape – direct and indirect effects of pesticides and management practice (more Info).

  • Taxonomy and Biogeography of turrids (Gastropoda)

Thesis
