Dr. Andreas Maeck

Former Group Member
PhD student, graduated in 2014

Research Interests

  • Geochemical and -physical processes in surface waters, particularly:
    • Greenhouse gas emissions (methane and carbon dioxide) from freshwater systems
    • Oxygen dynamics of rivers and lakes
    • Sediment-Water-Air fluxes in freshwater systems
  • Sediment transport in aquatic systems
  • Development of new methods to quantify methane ebullition rates

Current Research Projects

  • MethaneFlux: Methane Emissions from Impounded Rivers: A process-based study at the River Saar
  • OxInflow: Influence of river water level changes on the oxygen dynamic in a river-connected back water system
