Interdiciplinary research group for environmental studies

Motivation and goal

The existence and consequences of many environmental problems like climate change or contaminants in the environment are well known. For many problems, there exist solutions to overcome or at least reduce the effects. But often neither the politics nor the people act accordingly to protect our environment. So there is a discrepancy between environmental knowledge on the one side and environmentally responsible behavior on the other side.

The central goal of the interdisciplinary research group is to research in an interdisciplinary team on environment-related questions with ecological and social relevance in order to resolve the discrepancy between knowledge and behaviour and to promote environmentally sustainable behaviour.

Therefore, the following research fields will be combined: natural scientific analysis, communication about environmental sciences and studies concerning individual characteristics as of implicit and explicit attitudes on environmentally responsible behaviour.
