Central Institute for Scientific Entrepreneurship & International Transfer (ZIFET)
-
The Central Institute for Scientific Entrepreneurship & International Transfer (ZIFET) is a central academic institution at the University of Koblenz-Landau. It is located and active on both the Koblenz and Landau campuses and coordinates all entrepreneurial projects and activities in research and teaching. In addition, ZIFET is a central point of contact for all aspects of national and international knowledge and technology transfer.
- SCIENTIFIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP
- Scientific entrepreneurship refers to all value added activities related to the support of university spin-offs. This functional view distinguishes between scientific entrepreneurship and the institutional perspective of academic entrepreneurship. The value added aspects of scientific entrepreneurship start with scientific evidence and extend from the market-oriented idea generation and the team building process to the development of business models and the facilitation of financing. The development and implementation of methods and instruments, as well as institutional structures that support the promotion of university spin-offs, are also part of scientific entrepreneurship.
- INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER
- The scientific transfer of knowledge and technology presently being utilized constitutes an interactive, mutually dependent, and gradual process between a provider and a recipient – in other words, a recapturing system. The roles between provider and recipient can change and generally cover the systems of science and economics, as well as politics and society. With an international perspective, the field of consideration extends to the transfer between nations. For example, lectures and publications, licenses, patents, joint projects, further education, or spin-offs, are classical methods and instruments of transfer. Research evaluation is strongly connected with transfer. Classically, the evaluation of individual research achievements comes to the foreground, as well as the evaluation of research and innovation policy programs and the evaluation of the performance of complete research institutions.
