Project description

Accompanying Academic Research for Perpetuating the Concept of "Enabling Innovation" in Non-University Research Institutions (WissBEnIn)

Non-university research institutions are characterized by heterogeneous content and structures, different research priorities, as well as varying market maturity for research results.

The respective activities for promoting innovation and transfer have also evolved and developed differently.

The newly developed instrument, “Enabling Innovation”, should systematically support the transfer of knowledge and technology from non-university research institutions with the use of empirically based analysis and assessment tools.

By applying to the BMBF for financial support for deploying “Enabling Innovation”, the respective non-university research institutions are also agreeing to participate in an accompanying scientific research.

The goal of the accompanying scientific research for perpetuating “Enabling Innovation” is the acquisition of specific, theory-driven and empirically-based findings on the operating conditions and long-term impact of “Enabling Innovation” in chosen facilities of the four largest non-university research institutions.

The scientific and / or technical work objectives of the project cover:

(1)  the diagnosis of the initial situation and context which motivated their participation in “Enabling Innovation”.

(2)  the appropriateness of the method for the respective institutional context and the integration of the method in the transfer-related work processes should be analyzed.

(3)  the impact, which is triggered by applying methods from “Enabling Innovation” during the testing and implementation process, should be measured.

(4)  the results of the accompanying scientific research should be published via publications, conventions, and other forms of media.
