The coronavirus pandemic continues to force us to be careful and cautious. We are adhering strictly to hygiene and distancing regulations because protecting the health of all students and employees is our top priority. As a result, traditional university life on campus will probably remain restricted for quite some time.

Vaccination against the Corona virus with the vaccines approved in Germany is safe and effective. Vaccination reduces the risk of infection and severe illness, helping to contain the Corona pandemic. By getting fully vaccinated, you will protect yourself and others and help bring university life back to the campuses.

The pandemic is very dynamic. Please inform yourself regularly about the latest developments on how we are tackling the coronavirus at the university and especially at your respective location via the following channels:

 

The key points in summary

  • Courses with an absolutely necessary attendance component, which were also already allowed to take place until 16.12.2020, can take place.
  • Examinations can be conducted in attendance or in digital form. In the case of face-to-face examinations, the university's hygiene concept (German only) must be observed for the health protection of all participants. A list of frequently asked questions and answers on the hygiene concept is available in English. Examinations in digital form are governed by the new framework examination regulations (German only).

  • Events and examinations with an increased risk potential (sports, music, performing arts, art) require a re-evaluation by the Occupational Safety and Health Department, even if an exemption has been granted for classroom teaching.    

  • Research activities can take place in compliance with the hygiene concept.
  • The use of the online check-in is mandatory for all events, examinations and activities in presence. The Online check-in at face-to-face events ensures that, if necessary, contact can be traced by the health authorities. For online check-in we have compiled information for members of the university (with their own university e-mail address), special information for lecturers and information for guests of the university (without their own university e-mail address).
  • The libraries are open to the public to a limited extent. The local conditions at the two academic locations of Koblenz and Landau differ. Please refer to the university library website for further information.
  • The refectories and cafeterias at the locations in Koblenz and Landau have a changing, limited range of offers. You can find current information on the websites of the Koblenz Students' Union and the Vorderpfalz Students' Union.
  • The university buildings in Koblenz and Landau are closed to the public. Students are only allowed to enter the buildings on specific occasions and are instructed not to stay in the buildings beyond that.
  • Service and advice centres such as the students' union office, study offices, student advisory services and university examination offices can be reached by e-mail or telephone.

Rules of conduct and hygiene

The coronavirus pandemic will probably continue to dominate our daily lives for a long time to come. Please adhere to the applicable hygiene, distance and mask rules. In this way, you will help to protect your own health and that of those around you and minimize the spread of the virus.

The most important rules of conduct and hygiene:
  • Maintain a distance from other people (at least 1.5 metres)
  • Do not shake hands or hug
  • Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap
  • Use disposable tissues, even for coughing and sneezing, alternatively: sneeze or cough into the crook of your arm. 
  • Ventilate closed rooms daily according to hygiene regulations
  • Mouth and nose covers provide effective protection for you and others, especially in situations where several people are meeting in public places for long periods of time or cannot reliably keep their distance

  • Information and acute help for parents, children and adolescents is offered by the counseling service Nummer gegen Kummer and the initiative Corona und Du.
  • Employees of the University of Koblenz-Landau can also obtain medical advice on psychological stress from the university's company medical service.
