DAAD Programs

The DAAD has established a centralized procedure for its programs of project funding.

At three predetermined dates at the beginning of April, middle of June and the beginning of October the new calls for projects are published.

For short-term special announcements, the DAAD considers the option of inviting tenders in between those dates. The respective tender texts can be found in the new project database with which you can search for DAAD programs.

FITweltweit - Trainee program for computer scientists

With the new program '' FITweltweit '' the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funds research-driven stays abroad of master students, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in the field of computer science.

With a budget of 8.8 million euros from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) stays abroad on various skills and career levels are supported with this program over the next five years.

It is meant to encourage students and doctoral candidates to carry out research in computer science abroad, in the context of their master’s or doctoral thesis. Postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to realize projects with a maturity of up to two years at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley or at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo. In all program lines an application at any time is possible and the scholarship period can be flexibly chosen so that the stay abroad can be seamlessly integrated into the current research plan and the medium-term career planning.

Funding: conference and lecture tours abroad

The DAAD promotes the active participation (own presentation, poster presentation) at a designated international scientific event abroad (congress or symposium; seminars or courses and similar events are excluded). The application must be received no later than four months before the first day of the event at DAAD; the confirmation of acceptance can be handed in later.

The leaflet and application form can be found on the website of the DAAD.
