The Buddy-Program for German and international students

“How to help foreigners and learn more than English at the same time”

Every semester many students from all over the world start their studies at the University of Koblenz-Landau. To make their start in Germany easier, the International Office provides a buddy-program.

The underlying idea is: Before arrival a contact person (buddy) will be matched to every international student. The buddy assists the incoming student in all matters concerning the stay at our university and the life in Germany. The aim is to make it easier for the newcomers to settle down in Koblenz and Landau.

Support by the International Office

The International Office supports the buddies in every step. We offer a workshop to prepare the students for their role as a buddy. But also after the arrival of the newcomers in Koblenz/Landau the International Office assists the buddies.

What requirements do you need to be a buddy?

• Interest in other cultures, openness and tolerance towards other people
• Sociability
• Good English language skills
• Time (especially before the start of the new semester and during the first weeks of it)

What we offer?

• The possibility to get in touch with students from other countries, their cultures and languages
• Buddy-Training: Overview of the tasks as a buddy, To-Do-List
• Exciting events (international evenings, cooking events, etc.)
• The International Office issues a certificate for successful participation.
