The IWM is the central e-learning facility of the University of Koblenz-Landau. At both Campuses we support teachers and students in the use of digital media in teaching and external partners in the implementation of e-learning projects within the framework of projects.

The following positions are currently vacant at the Institute for Knowledge Media:

Scientific assistants

The Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM) is looking for a student assistant (min. 8 hours/week) to strengthen the SPITZE team as soon as possible.

Who we are

Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM) is an interdisciplinary research and transfer institute and the central support facility of the University of Koblenz-Landau for the area of electronically supported learning (e-learning). At both locations, we support teachers and students in the use of digital media in teaching and external partners in the implementation of e-learning projects within the framework of third-party funded projects.

The SPITZE project creates a platform for prospective and new students. It enables a more well-founded choice of studies as well as a dedicated preparation for them.

Central task: Web development with JavaScript

Your new task is to help shape our web platform for study orientation.

In concrete terms, this includes:

  • Development and development of visualizations with d3.js
  • Programming with JavaScript (ES 6)
  • Application of technologies such as SVG, Webpack, babel, standard.js, Vagrant, git
  • Integration of visualizations into an API

Prerequisites

Knowledge and experience with the technologies described above are advantageous, but are not required for a good and quick familiarization. Not all activities described above are required at the same time and by one person. Focal points within the areas of activity described above are possible (e.g. focus on JavaScript).

Since all our documentation, team communication and contents are written in German, a good knowledge of German is required.

Good ability to integrate, self-organisation, team and communication skills as well as obligatory participation in weekly meetings (1-2 hours), currently Wednesdays from 12:12, are also required.

The working time is at least 8 hours/week.
The place of employment is Koblenz.
Remuneration is according to the table for scientific assistants. For Bachelor students it is at present 10.44€, for students with Bachelor conclusion 12.14€ per performed hour.

Your new task is to help shape our web platform for study orientation.

In concrete terms, this includes (setting priorities is possible):

  • Setting texts and other media
  • Adjustments in CSS, HTML and JavaScript
  • Create and edit photos and vector graphics
  • Designing a good user experience
