European Project TAS3

The IWM is partner in the integrated project TAS3 in the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union. The aim of the project is to establish a network of Internet services for the secure exchange of personal data in Europe.

The European integrated project "Trusted Architecture for Securely Shared Services (TAS3)" develops an architecture for the secure exchange of personal data on the Internet. Questions of data security and data protection, identity management, trust and control over the use of data are central problems of the project. Central fields of application are employment services and health care.

In these areas, the project results will be tested in pilot trials in Great Britain, the Netherlands and Belgium. The project takes up ideas that have emerged in higher education in the use of electronic portfolios. The infrastructure developed in the project is also of direct interest to the education sector.

By applying personal data in different areas with different technical systems, the project will have to provide data according to different technical specifications. For this purpose, the project implements a specification-neutral concept developed at IWM. The consistent use of semantic concepts from the modelling of processes to the configuration of services is another special feature of the project. Within the framework of TAS3, the IWM is leading the work package for the development of the non-safety specific parts of the infrastructure.

The project runs from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2011 and is coordinated by the Catholic University of Leuven/Belgium.
