Learning Platforms

The IWM has been supporting lecturers and students in the use of learning platforms in teaching since 2002. Since 2012, the university has been using the Learning Management System (LMS) OLAT as a standard teaching tool. The LMS can be used for entire online courses as well as for individual integrated communication, organisation or cooperation tools. OLAT is hosted by the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate (VCRP) free of charge for universities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The second platform is Mahara, a server-based system for creating e-portfolios.

Important aspects for the use of the LMS and our support for lecturers are the realisation of a qualitative added value in teaching and the greatest possible reusability of digital learning content. According to these criteria, the IWM continuously monitors the further development of various LMS.

Teachers and students at Campus Koblenz can make use of the IWM's learning platforms and wide range of support services free of charge, e.g. consulting or workshops.

We are also interested in your experiences with other learning platforms and look forward to your suggestions.
