General Information about Rwanda

The Republic of Rwanda has an area of 26,000 km² (in comparison: Germany 357,000 km²) and approx. 11.92 million inhabitants. About 1.26 million people live in the capital Kigali.

The country has a tropical highland climate. From February to May is the great rainy season, the great dry season is from June to mid-September. The small rainy season is from mid-September to November and the small dry season from December to January.

The national languages are Kinyarwanda, English, French and Swahili. The population consists of 44% Catholics, 38% Protestants, 12% Adventists and 3% Muslims.

In 2016, the gross domestic product per inhabitant was US$ 729 (in comparison: Germany US$ 42,177) (destatis.de).
