Influence of anthropogenic disturbance on the diversity of flora and vegetation of Cyamudongo rainforest, the adjacent forestry plots and the western Nyungwe main forest

The study is carried out in Cyamudongo forest and, for comparative reasons, in western Nyungwe forest. Plant communities are surveyed along transects and on plots which were established in the primary and secondary forest as well as in the buffer zone. The study aims to evaluate how different disturbance intensities affect the plant communities.

Sustainable agriculture and forestry at Cyamudongo rainforest - Effects on the conservation of natural resources

The study is carried out in the agricultural landscape surrounding Cyamudongo forest. Soil properties, above ground biomass as well as biodiversity are monitored along transects originating from the forest and encompassing an altitutional gradient. The study aims to assess the contribution of sustainable agroforestry towards environmental conservation of Cyamudongo forest.

Survey on the impact of agroforestry-trainings offered to local farmers by the Cyamudongo project

The study was carried out in four villages in the surrounding of Cyamudongo forest. Farmers were interviewed to assess their knowledge on agroforestry systems, their satisfaction with the project activities and their wishes or recommendations. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the famers' training offered by the project and to obtain feedback on the farmers' perception of the project.

Survey on the match between tourist tour offers and tourist expectations at the Cyamudongo forest

The study was carried out in Cyamudongo forest as well as at the visitor centers of Nyungwe National Park. Tourists as well as tourist guides participated in the study. The study aimed to evaluatet how tourists learned about Cyamudongo forest and what their expectations are in terms of their visit in order to provide recommendations for the improvement of the offered tourist tours.
