Wirtschaftsinformatik (Bachelor of Science)

The Bachelor’s degree program in Wirtschaftsinformatik focuses on providing IT-oriented training in information system design and with regard to the interface between the implementation and management of technology. Wirtschaftsinformatik is here considered to require an orientation based on a combination of standard business management and computer science elements with a bias towards computer science.

The Bachelor’s degree program in Wirtschaftsinformatik is research-oriented. Its mainstays are business informatics, computer science and business management. These core areas are complemented by supporting subjects, such as mathematics and statistics, law and soft skills. During the course of the program the student is given the opportunity to specialize in Business Informatics/Computer Science and Business Management.

This comprehensive program prepares students for the Master’s degree program that makes possible a further specialization in selected areas of Business Informatics, or qualification for admission to specialized degree programs in E-government and Web Science, and degree programs in Informationsmanagement and Informatik.

The Bachelor’s degree program is intended to enable students to apply acquired skills and knowledge to their studies and in practice and to quickly absorb new specialized knowledge within the scope of life-long learning. It provides direct access to the employment market in the relevant fields. Degree program graduates can bank on good career prospects even when the economy is suffering. Medium-sized to large corporations in particular offer excellent career opportunities to generalists acting as the link between different specialists. A change of study location is possible while it is also possible to study for a Master’s degree abroad.

For the most part, the main medium of instruction is German. International students are required to submit proof of German language proficiency.
