Organization
- University management
-
The university is run by an executive board. The members of the board include the President, the two Vice-Presidents and the Head of Administration, who are all equal members of the board.
- Locations
-
One distinctive feature of the university is its regional structure. Koblenz and Landau are the centers for teaching, research and continuing education. The university’s organisational link is the President’s Office in Mainz, where the university’s executive board and its central administration are located.
- Governing bodies
-
The university has three central governing bodies. The Senate is responsible for the issues which concern the entire university. Some of the issues dealt with by the Senate require the approval of the University Council, of which half the members are university staff and the other half external members. The Board of Trustees serves as a link between the university and other social groups. The members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the First Minister of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- Administration
-
The university’s administration is organised in five main departments, which are complemented by several further administrative departments. They deliver a diverse range of administrative services.
- Representation
-
In order to represent the interests of particular groups of people, the university has commissioners and representatives who perform specific tasks. These include, for example, the personnel representatives, the equal-opportunities commissioners as well as the commissioners for data protection or fire prevention.
- Student self-administration
-
The students at the Koblenz and Landau campuses both have student bodies, and both these bodies manage their own affairs. The key governing bodies are the Student Council (StuPa) and the Students' Union Executive Committee (AStA). Students of specific subjects or on specific study programmes are also organised in smaller student bodies.
