FAQ
Learning a language has many benefits and can serve a wide variety of goals.
Some of them are:
- Companies and institutions rely on international networking. Foreign language skills help you to have better chances when applying for a job.
- You can brush up on the foreign language skills you have already learned.
- Even just learning a few phrases in another language opens doors for native speakers.
- It is fun to get involved with a new language and thus a new culture.
- You learn see your own language through different eyes, to recognize parallels and differences to the target language and to use your native language more consciously.
The designation of the language level in the USZ courses is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 are levels described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and help to provide a comparable classification of language skills in different countries.
Partial levels such as A1.1 mean that level A1 has been subdivided once again. You can reach a full level by taking a language course over two semesters.
To assess your own ability, read through the short texts of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and rate yourself as best you can.
For a more detailed assessment, please check out our instruction video.
The courses are free of charge for students of Koblenz University. Externals are not allowed to participate.
